My name is Date. I am small and sweet, and today I am on an iftar table during Ramadan. Around me, there is soup, bread, and water. The family is sitting quietly and waiting for the call to prayer.
They look a little tired because they have been fasting all day, but they are also peaceful and thankful. I feel excited and proud because I know I will help them break their fast. During Ramadan, people usually start their meal with me.
Suddenly, the call to prayer begins. The family says, “Bismillah,” and eats me first. I feel happy because I am part of this special and meaningful moment.
Even though I am small, I have an important role during Ramadan.
