Chapter 1: The Seed
She found a very large seed. Other than its size, there was nothing unusual about it. There was a warning label on the jar, though — in faded handwriting, it read:
“This seed should never, ever be planted.” Kate got the seed from a strange little shop. When she saw the warning, she laughed. “Is this some kind of joke? I’ve already lost a few plants. Might as well try this one.” And so, she planted it. A week later, a strawberry had grown. She was surprised — it had only been seven days — but didn’t think much of it. She picked the strawberry and took a bite. When she opened her eyes, she wasn’t in her room anymore. She was in the World of Fruits. There were dancing peaches, crying apples, and watermelons eating other watermelons. Shocked, she whispered, “Where… am I?” Just then, two baby peaches waddled up to her. “Hello? Can you help me?” Kate asked. “I don’t know where I am.” The baby peaches giggled and shouted, “Mama!” Their mother came over — a tall peach in a flowy dress. “Hello,” she said warmly. “Welcome to our Fruity Country.” Kate blinked. “Is there… any other country?”
“Yes,” said Mama Peach, frowning. “There’s the Vegetable Country. But they’re mean. We don’t like them.”
Kate nodded slowly. “Um… how do I get back to my home?” Mama Peach thought for a moment. “You’ll need to speak to the Queen. She knows everything.” “Thank you,” said Kate, and off she went toward the Queen’s castle.
Chapter 2: The Queen
Kate walked a long way. She passed rivers of cheese, chocolate trees, and the snowy Charmello Mountains. Everything was strange, colorful, and sweet-smelling.
Finally, she reached the Queen’s Castle. A watermelon guard stood at the entrance. “Halt! Who are you? What are you doing here?” “I need to see the Queen,” Kate said. “It’s important.”
The guard looked at her carefully, then nodded. “Very well. You may enter.” Inside the castle, everything was decorated with tiny models of fruit. The walls sparkled with sugar. Fruit ministers stood around, each wearing armor with shields that had a picture of a crossed-out carrot. They clearly didn’t like vegetables. At the far end of the room, sitting on a glittering throne, was the Queen — a stunning, glowing Strawberry wearing a crown of seeds. “Who are you?” she asked in a gentle but firm voice. “My name is Kate,” she said. “I need your help. I want to go home.” The Queen studied her for a moment, then said, “I understand. I’ll help you — but you must not tell your mother or father about this place. Do you promise?” “I promise,” Kate said.
Chapter 3: Homecoming
Kate missed her home more than ever, but there were so many questions in her head. Still, she tried not to think too hard about it.
She stayed in the Fruity Country for two days. On the third day, the Queen prepared a special tea for Kate. “This tea will help you return,” the Queen said.
Kate watched as the Queen carefully brewed it with magical herbs and shimmering seeds. When the tea was ready, the Queen handed her the cup.
“Drink it all,” she said. “And remember — don’t be silly and don’t eat strawberries anymore.” Kate smiled, hugged the Queen, and said, “Thank you.”
Then she drank the tea. It tasted sweet and warm. Moments later, her eyes grew heavy, and she fell asleep.
Chapter 4: Home
When she opened her eyes, she was back in her room. The strawberry — untouched — was still in her hand. She quickly hid it in her pocket and sat up. Maybe one day… she’d go back. The End.
